About Carpet and Upholstery
Carpet and upholstery cleaning is a topic that always comes up. Many people enjoy making their homes as beautiful as possible. Decorating them with carpets and other household items such as couches and beds. But keeping these things clean can be difficult. As time goes on, all sorts of dirt and grime build up in your carpet fibers. In addition, the spills from pets and people can leave behind stains that need attention.
Professional carpet cleaning is the only way to eliminate certain kinds of stains. Despite the common misconception that steam cleaning is the only solution, Chem-Dry offers a safer, more efficient, and more effective method for deep cleaning carpets.
Different Methods for Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning
Cleaning is an essential part of carpet maintenance. Proper and frequent cleaning will ensure a good impression on everyone. There are four primary methods for cleaning carpets:
Perfumed Soap
This type of soap has several attractive benefits for commercial cleaners, especially those who provide contract services to restaurants, hotels, etc. Not only do these soaps clean well, but they are perfumed, which reduces the odours that may be present in these environments.
Bonnet
This method requires no scrubbing, which can ruin delicate carpets or upholstery. You should use this method for spot removal and drying without wetting the backing. Before bonneting, rake the nap back with a comb attachment on your vacuums hose-it opens up the long pile fibres so dirt can be removed more easily. It’s also extremely effective at removing spots when used dry in combination with our other methods.
Combination Method
This involves shampooing, bonneting, and then extracting with an extractor to remove all cleaning agents used during the process. Drying time is greatly reduced since only a small amount of water is used in this method (about 1/2 gallon or less per room). It may take several hours to dry completely, depending on the conditions.
Extraction
When using an extractor, remember-the wetter you can keep the carpet, the cleaner it will be. Rake the pile back before you extract so that when you start to extract away dirty water, there will be less soil in your dirty water tank to rinse away later. Do not extract until all of the shampoos have been rinsed out.
The best solution for removing spots and stains is to use one of our three methods and then extract in combination with bonneting to ensure that no cleaning agents remain behind in the carpet.
