Reviews of foundation repair specialists
Foundation repair specialists specialize in this type of home renovation because it requires highly specialized training and equipment to ensure that necessary steps are completed swiftly but correctly. Hundreds of factors can contribute to foundation problems, such as soil shrinkage and expansion (depending on the temperature). Too much or too little moisture in the soil beneath your home’s foundation can cause issues; water doesn’t need to be visible to have an effect. Your home’s foundation will be highly stable thanks to solid steel piers, which can be driven up to 100 feet deep.
Foundation repair methods
Regarding foundation repair, prevention is always better than cure. Foundation damage can be devastating, not only to your home but also to the family residing inside it. It’s possible to stop foundation problems before they even begin. Foundation cracks are a sure sign of movement within the soil beneath your home’s foundation. They may appear as hairline fractures or spiderweb-like patterns, and the longer they go without being repaired, the larger they become.
To fix cracks in foundations, you’ll need to clean them out with a wire brush and wash them down with a bleach solution.
Helical Pier Installation is a long-lasting solution for addressing foundation issues. These piers, also known as screw piles or helical piles, are driven deep into the ground to provide support and stability to your foundation. They work by anchoring into load-bearing soil or bedrock, preventing further settling or movement.

Step 1: Prepare yourself for battle
The following items will be needed:
- Bleach, clean water, a mixing stick, wire brush, protective gloves, safety goggles, protective clothing, scrub brush, and a shovel.
- Pour one part bleach into nine parts water and stir well. Clean foundation cracks with a wire brush. Use a soapy mixture to wash the area.
Step 2: Fill your cracks
The following items are needed:
- Concrete coloring agent, bucket, mixing stick, wheelbarrow, protective gloves, safety goggles, safety mask, sponge trowel, spreader, mix mortar into the foundation crack until it is approximately half full, allowing for shrinkage. Allow it to dry completely for 24 hours.
- If necessary, apply a second coat of mortar over the existing mix, allowing it to dry for an additional 24 hours before continuing.
The key here is keeping moisture away from the foundation fix for it to cure properly. It’s important to keep children and pets away from the crack for this same reason; they’ll be tempted to touch it!
After completion, what should you do?
When your foundation repair is complete, you can protect it by applying an acrylic-based caulk over top of it. It will prevent future water penetration into the area, potentially leading to another form of damage. Bob Mack Construction is a foundation repair contractor located in Toronto, Ontario.
