IGTV is the latest gimmick of the Instagram social platform : it appeared online a few days ago and has already attracted the attention of simple users and professionals. But what exactly is it about ?
IGTV is the new Instagram App that allows the publication of videos up to sixty minutes long , vertically. In fact, it is a service that competes directly with the main online video platform, namely YouTube , but also with all other platforms specialized in the distribution of videos .
IGTV was recently presented in San Francisco and, what is known for now, is that it can be downloaded both as a single application and used as an internal service to Instagram .
Obviously, IGTV is the result of the increasingly massive interest that Instagram users show for “ stories ”, ie short contents that have a duration of 24 hours and which, in themselves, represent a clear approach to videos . As is known, this medium is now the superfavorite online and will remain so at least for the next 2-5 years, and it is therefore inevitable that social platforms will move in this direction with their updates.
With IGTV , users will be able to upload their videos to a dedicated channel . It is not, at least for the moment, a service that will affect the entire audience but rather a limited and selected target , which will be able to publish videos up to an hour long. All the others will have to be content with “only” ten minutes. According to Instagram, however, this limit will be removed in the coming months .
As far as engagement is concerned , IGTV videos can be enjoyed as is currently the case for stories: users can therefore be appreciated with a heart, commented on and sent to friends .
Have you already verified that the IGTV icon is at the top right of the main Instagram screen ? Alternatively, you will find it directly on the profile of whoever posted a video , right next to the highlighted content.
An interesting note to report is that, at least for the moment, IGTV does not contain advertising . It seems – but some doubts are required, given the turnover generated by advertising on videos – that the application will remain free from Adv also in the future . At the same time, it is not even possible to sponsor the published videos for a fee. If so, it would really be a step forward in the use of videos on the net!
