Fallout 76 is an action RPG
Fallout 76 is a role-playing game in which players create and play their characters and interact with other people in the world. It was released on November 14, 2018, and has received overall positive reviews from players and critics alike.
Critics quickly pointed out that some connectivity issues could be during the launch because Fallout 76 is an online-only game. Players can compete against each other, but the developer has made it clear that there will be no PvP combat.
Cross-Platform: Fallout 76 RPG
The game only supports cross-play with people on the same system(s). Fallout 76 is available for P.C., PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for $60/£40. Fallout 76 is an online-centric action role-playing game by “Bethesda.” It was released in 2018, and players hope that they can compete against each other. But the developer has made it clear that there will be no PvP combat, so their common fate binds players together. Moreover, because the game is an online-only title, players can’t cross-play others on other systems.
All About Cross-platform
Gamers and developers alike often target specific platforms to utilize certain unique features, such as hardware specs. It is especially true for the different mobile platforms: Android and iOS devices.
Due to their operating systems’ restrictions (e.g., iOS’s lack of manual memory management). With that said, it is becoming increasingly popular for developers to release games on multiple platforms simultaneously, a process known as cross-platform.
This type of development structure has become especially useful in the mobile market due to a growing problem: fragmentation. Mobile phones have advanced at an exponentially fast pace over the past several years. It means that older devices have difficulty keeping up with newer ones. It is becoming more difficult for developers to ensure that their apps are compatible with many mobile devices on the market.
This issue has created an opportunity for cross-platform development to shine. Developers can simultaneously develop games (or other applications) for multiple platforms. Developers also ensure compatibility across many devices while increasing quality. It is easier to test for compatibility when there are fewer platforms involved. This process has become essential to mobile development and cross-platform development tools. Unity (one of the most widely used game engines) continues to progress toward enabling developers to deliver apps across multiple mobile devices quickly.
Mutation System in the Fallout 76 RPG
Out of all the features of Fallout 76, one of the unique ones is its mutation system. Most mutations in-game result from exposure. Exposure to high background radiation levels from nuclear fallout and everyone you run into has them.
To acquire new mutations, you will need to consume special mutagenic foods and drinks. List some of the more common mutations you can get in-game, detail the drawbacks for each mutation, and give tips on addressing any side effects.

Some Mutations and Effects in Fallout 76 action RPG
Carnivore Fallout 76 Mutation RPG
The Carnivore mutation allows for an increased benefit from consuming meat-based dishes and a decreased negative effect from consuming plant-based ones. Pre-mutation, players do not need to eat food unless hungry or want the buffs from consumables. Post-mutation, you’ll have to finish some form of food nearly every day to maintain the daily benefits of eating.
Players with the mutation will find that hunger is not satisfied when eating anything but meat, and H.P. does not restore. Any buffs applied by consumables are also halved ineffectiveness or lost altogether.
Consuming meat provides double the benefit of these effects. For example, if a plant-based consumable would heal 1,000 HP over 10 seconds, the meat would heal 2,000 HP over 20 seconds.
Eagle Eyes Fallout 76 Mutation RPG
Eagle Eyes, Fallout 76 mutation (Increases critical damage by 25% and Perception by 4): Critical Damage is +25%, PER +4 STR -4. The Eagle Eyes mutation is one of the most powerful eye mutations available in Fallout 76. The significant boost to Perception means it synergizes well with several other vital skills like Gunslinger, Rifleman, and Rifleman Jets. The critical hit damage multiplier is also massive, considering the low value of normal damage from weapons in Fallout 76.
The downside is that this mutation is one of the most severe when it comes to penalties. Strength is reduced by 4 points for a net loss of 8 points total. That means if you have a high strength value, this mutation will severely impact your damage output until you can find some way to remedy the Strength reduction problem.
Grounded Fallout 76 Mutation RPG
There’s a new mutation in town. We’re calling it “Grounded,” Its effect allows you to absorb up to 100% of energy weapon damage, but it makes the user extremely vulnerable to poison effects.
Note that this is not considered an “immunity” – if your target has an immunity that prevents poison damage (such as ghouls or high radiation resistance), that target will still take the complete 300% + 100 poison damage.
Fallout 76 mutation Grounded works differently than most other mutations. For one, it doesn’t mutate your character directly. When taking the mutation, it adds a flat bonus to your current energy resistance.
Healing Fallout 76 Mutation RPG
Fallout 76 adds mutations to the game that allow your character to gain temporary abilities called Healing Factor. Players who take this mutation will be able to regenerate lost health while not in combat.
- Health Regeneration 300%
- Chem Effects -55%
The Chem effects mean that your character will not be able to receive any chem bonuses, such as Stimpaks. It might be an exciting tradeoff for some players since they would gain a lot of fast healing but might not want to rely on Stimpaks for the rest of their play session.
This mutation is available at Level 49 and has a length of 2 hours. Players interested in taking this mutation can find it by clicking Edit Character at the bottom left corner of the screen, then Mutations.
Herbivore Fallout 76 Mutation RPG
The Fallout 76 mutation “Herbivore” allows any player to eat only plants. Become utterly immune to hunger and disease with no rads or effects on the player.
The mutation is activated by eating any plant-based food (such as wild carrots). The day’s first meal will provide double the effects of a regular plant-based meal.
If you find yourself in possession of an abundance of meat, eat one piece. Then activate this mutation to access the full benefits of plant-based food.
Speed Demon Fallout 76 Mutation RPG
The Speed Demon mutation is a very effective one in the right circumstances. It adds a flat 20% to your movement speed and a further 50% when running. It is great for traveling long distances quickly – essential when it takes you half an hour to get from point to point on foot – and enables you to move around the map with increased stealthiness. Making high jumps with this bonus can be highly satisfying.
It’s not all good, though: this mutation drains hunger and thirst at nearly double its average rate when moving, so if you’re not prepared or have too much junk weight (which slows down your movement), then having Recovery +20% might make more sense instead.
An Unstable Isotope Fallout 76 mutation
An Unstable Isotope is a temporary modification to an object that can be applied by using certain Power Armour modifications.
The mod ties into the power armor’s Fusion Core, and it generates an unstable isotope in addition to any other mods attached. The additional energy output increases the total charge capacity of the power armor at the expense of long-term Endurance and overall stability. The effect starts very mildly, but after 24 real-time hours (at midnight), there will be a slight chance for it to release a radiation blast. The frequency will gradually increase until around 48 hours when it has a moderate event when hit, and then finally reaches 100% at 72 hours (3 days).
The “Unstable Isotope” is not a standard Fusion Core modification. During the event, any energy generated by your power armour will go towards fueling and maintaining this effect – including movement.
You will only be able to replenish the charge used over time, like all other Power Armour modifications. Therefore it might be wise to consider keeping a spare set of under-armor clothes for more extended missions to allow you some uninterrupted gameplay. If you need to change clothes or take off your power armor, there’s a chance that its effectiveness stops it has been recharged.
Twisted Muscles Fallout 76 mutation
Fallout 76 mutations are physical enhancements to your immune system. These can be discovered through various means, including PS4.
The highest levels of mutation are ‘Twisted Muscles,’ ‘Inflammable Blood,’ and ‘Fungal Brain.’ The Twisted Muscles mutation is an exciting physical enhancement, which allows you to deal high levels of damage with any melee attack. The downside is much-reduced accuracy when using firearms.
Talons Fallout 76 Mutation RPG
The biggest downside to starting the game is that there are no other people around to help. It can be deadly in Fallout 76 due to enemies being more potent than the player’s character at the beginning of the game.
A player can punch an enemy once per second for 1-3 damage. Each mutation does 25% more damage, which means punching will now do 1-4 damage per hit.
This mutation also causes bleeding effects on enemies with each attack. The amount of time it takes for an enemy to bleed out depends on their total health pool; if they have 100% H.P., it will take them 50 seconds to die from blood loss. This mutation also causes the player’s character to take 5% increased damage from all sources.
The downside to this mutation is that it decreases your Agility by 4 points. Agility determines how fast your A.P. regenerates and how many Action Points you have in VATS mode. So dropping Agility will slightly lower these stats.
Electricity Charged Fallout 76 Mutation RPG
The Electricity Charged Mutation in Fallout 76 is a passive perk card that gives players a chance to shock melee attackers, with the damage multiplying if the target has low health. This mutation can be unlocked when you reach level 61 with your Endurance at six or higher. It’s one of the coolest mutations in Fallout 76 because it makes gunfights even more dynamic and adrenaline-raising. Your enemies will never know when they’ll get hit by an electrifying blast after getting too close to you. Keep both eyes open – there are enough wild animals in West Virginia to surprise you at any moment. You can unlock this mutation quickly if you have 6 points in Endurance – switch over 5 points from Agility or Luck since Endurance is a base SPECIAL attribute.
