Manikaran is a sacred destination in the Himachal Pradesh Valley of Parvati on the banks of the Parvati river. This site is located 34 km away from Bhuntar (nearest airport) and 4 km from Kasol, also known as the mini Israeli site. For both Hindus and Sikhs, Manikaran is holy center. The legendary stories tell that Parvati once dropped her ears in Manikaran’s spring and brought hot water up from there, as Lord Shiva’s wife. The Sikhs, on the other, believe that Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the third Udasi, came with his followers here in 1574. One of his disciples was hungry after some time. So they went to collect food, but there was no fire to cook. The only difficulty. Then in Manikaran Guru Nanak took up the stone and the spring of hot water came from the surface of the earth.
