A bathroom mirror is used to facilitate grooming and with grooming, it is immensely important that the lighting be adequate. Oftentimes standard lighting in bathrooms isn’t enough to illuminate your face. Greatly lit mirrors are great for making your time in the restroom pleasant and enjoyable.
Bathrooms often have a small window right above the sink. This is perfect for emergency lighting. If your main power goes out and you do not have a flashlight (and candles are not permitted), head over to the sink and turn on the tap.
If you are thinking of a gift for the woman in your life, one of the best gifts someone can receive is a vanity mirror with lights. Women in the world can never have too many beauty accessories.
When you look at yourself in the mirror, the shine from the water will provide enough light to keep going. Make sure you place it in an area where someone will instinctively look when entering the bathroom, like above or below your facial mirror.
How do you light a bathroom mirror?
Bathroom mirrors act as a focal point in a bathroom. They reflect on themselves and the environment. The reflective properties of mirrors can be used for small tasks like hair-drying and makeup application. Mirrors are great for shaving, as well. But unfortunately, mirrors are sometimes placed too high from the floor or on walls that aren’t well-lit.
This doesn’t really help when you want to apply makeup or shave. You can buy lights for your mirror, but this is not always the best route. Particularly, if you want light to bounce off the mirror and spread around the bathroom. So how can you add light to your mirror? You can make a lightbox on your mirror using index cards and double-sided tape.
There are three ways I have found to light a bathroom mirror:
- Try to find an LED/CCFL bulb that produces enough light for you. This might be hard to find, but it is out there.
- Use a series of bathroom sconces on the wall. This can be costly and take up a lot of room, but the results are stunning.
- Anchor the mirror to the wall with a strong adhesive. Hang the mirror at a slight angle, 12-15°, and hold it in place temporarily with a few dots of that strong adhesive.
It all depends on what kind of light you are looking to accomplish. You can do this effectively by using a halogen bulb with a reflector. You can project a strong light onto the mirror if you use a reflector and a halogen bulb, or you can use a standard incandescent.
The advantage of a halogen bulb is that they get hot very quickly, thus a faster warm-up. The other advantage of the halogen is the light is brighter, thus more suitable for the task.
What kind of lights are used for vanity mirrors?
Vanity mirrors serve as an accessory to your bathroom and as a light source for grooming. The mirror is usually made of glass and framed with wood, metal or plastic. The glass is frosted for privacy, and in most cases can be magnified for more accurate makeup application and shaving.
The most commonly used LED micro-light for vanity mirror is P4 LED, 3w with a life of 50,000 hours. The color temperature is 4500K, which is the standard and even light provides a better color and skin tone. The light output is 350-400LM and has a voltage of 2.5V-3.2V.
Are LED lights good for vanity?
LED light is most popular in the market of vanity lights. It is not only good for vanity but also many other places. Visualize yourself a bathroom with LED lights. Its bright and beautiful. But like all good things, it has a bit of bad too. The LED lights are not as durable as the other lights.
They are also not as efficient as the fluorescent light. They, however, have a larger life span than all the other lights. In long term they save a lot of money than any other light. The LED lights are safer than any other lights. The electromagnetic interference is very low. They are also much brighter than others. The best thing is that there is no warm-up time with the LED lights.
