A wonderful dining experience for everybody is provided by the Somerset-born chef Jon Howe, who owns and operates Lumiere.
5. The Ox Barn at Thyme
For our next entry on our list of the top restaurants in the Cotswolds, we have The Ox Barn at Thyme, a big contemporary restaurant in the village of Lechlade. The Ox Barn, which takes its name from the 19th-century oxen barn in which it is situated, employs fresh products in its spectacular Charvet open kitchen, which is designed by Charvet.
Take pleasure in the broad beams, towering arches, and ancient Cotswold stone rubble walls of this charming barn conversion while you dine on flavour-packed cuisine.
6. Egypt Mill Restaurant
Herethey provide fresh, high-quality food that includes pub favourites like traditional burgers and pizza, as well as daily specials and outstanding steaks. Their 28-room hotel is brimming with charm and boasts a number of historical characteristics.

Best pubs in Cotswolds
1. The Chequers, Churchill
The Chequers manages to successfully mix shabby rustic appeal with great excellence in a way that is unlike anything else in the world. This restaurant’s understated perfection is achieved via meticulous attention to detail in its cuisine, beverages, and atmosphere. Expect to see dishes such as twice-baked cheddar soufflés, devilled kidneys on toast, entire roast partridge, and Chateaubriand on the menu.
The Chequers is a popular gathering place for people from all walks of life, and it is frequented by both tourists and farmers. Get a table in the dramatic bar area rather than the main restaurant, and while you’re there, be sure to try a plate of cured brizola ham or one of their legendary Bloody Marys while you’re contemplating the options on the menu.
2. Wild Rabbit Kingham
Certainly not rustic or laid back, the Wild Rabbit hits all the right boxes for anyone wishing to enjoy a stylish weekend getaway in the countryside with their friends or significant other. The Wild Rabbit, which is among the best pubs in Cotswolds, serves (supposedly) the most expensive chips in England, is managed by the proprietors of Daylesford Organic Farmshop, which is just a mile away, and has the same beautiful, impressive, and high standards as Daylesford Organic Farmshop.
They have just hired Tim Allen, a former Michelin-starred chef who lays a heavy focus on acquiring wild and foraged seasonal vegetables from small, family-run artisan suppliers in the area.
3. Wheatsheaf, Northleach
The Wheatsheaf, which is owned and operated by the highly regarded Lucky Onion company, is a sister pub to the Chequers in Churchill and is every bit as good as the latter. Their menu is comparable, if not a touch more polished, with appetizers such as Cornish clams and a main course of ox cheek, rib, and oyster pie.
The beverages selection is wide, and the staff is eager to guide you through the restaurant’s unique seasonally changing cuisine. A true gastro-pub, The Wheatsheaf never fails to live up to its reputation as a destination for food and drink.
4. Horse and Groom, Bourton on the Hill
After seemingly winning every delicious food award under the sun, and most recently winning Pub of the Year, the Horse and Groom is certainly worth a visit, if simply to see what all of the hype is about. Instead of printing menus, they chalk up the daily menu on blackboards, allowing for total flexibility in order to make the most of fresh, seasonal product as it is delivered to the restaurant.
During the course of a service, up to half of the menu can be changed, bringing a sense of spontaneity to the proceedings and ensuring that even the most seasoned guests have something new to try. Five large bedrooms, including a “Garden Double” that opens onto their beautifully manicured gardens, are available to guests.
