Dimension Door 5e:
In the Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) role-playing game, a Dimension Door 5e spell causes instant distortion to any solid surface to it’s applied. It allows the instantaneous passage of objects through that surface. It has a Verbal component.
When cast, a Dimension Door 5e causes any solid surface. It is used to bend and warp into an extradimensional space, a pocket dimension connected only to where players cast this spell. The caster can step into this warped area, which leads to an almost identical copy of the space from which they entered. It will exit until the duration expires. It acts as if using a Dimension Door spell from whatever point in that area/she wishes. If there is no environment where they are going, that location will be treated as a barrier blocking it.
A well or cistern can provide access to a small extradimensional space in the shape of a sphere connected only to a well or cistern. The size of the well dictates how big this area is, with deeper wells leading to more significant areas. A creature within 20 feet of the warped entrance point may see into it. And also know where things are inside—though physical barriers still block the line of sight into it from outside. One exit from the pocket dimension appears beside the target/destination. That faces its direction unless otherwise stated by the caster when cast.
What is the difference between a dimension door and an actual door?
An old D&D computer game included a cinematic showing mages using dimension doors, which were actual doors. There is only a verbal component to the spell in 5e, meaning you can do it without moving your arms or legs.

The Casting Of Dimension Door 5e Distance
You can use Dimension Door 5e at any point during your move without penalty. And it is not limited to the distance of a “normal” move action. The text for Dimension Door 5e on page 249 of the Player’s Handbook 5e does not state that you must be able to see your destination, just that it must exist within your Line of Sight. So this would mean you could teleport through walls as long as they aren’t solid (not blocked by anything) and if there is an opening large enough for you to fit through. No maximum movement distances are listed. But the spell lasts until “the end of your next turn.” You will arrive precisely where you had intended (including falling damage/collisions and such).
If you get hit by an attack while using this spell (or before moving, such as when targeted), you will end up in a random space within 60 feet instead, depending on whether or not that space is filled. Otherwise, your movement fails, and you appear in the nearest unoccupied space. Players can use Dimension Door 5e on an Unconscious or Prone creature. If they want to get someone away from harm, they could use this spell on them even if the creature were Prone (and they do get their Reaction).
Effects of Dimension Door 5e
The spell does not affect creatures native to other planes, such as celestials or aberrations that do not live on the same plane as their target destination. However, should an interplanar entity attempt to use this spell, they may find themselves stranded in either the space behind the portal if traveling between two points on their current plane (i.e., using it as a normal Dimension Door). Or inside its extradimensional pocket if attempting to travel outside its home plane’s boundaries.

Some essential factors of Dimension Door 5e
Range:
Dimension Door 5e spells have no specific maximum range. The only requirement is to see the intended destination, which can be generalized as being within line of sight. Since Dimensional Door requires no Verbal or Somatic components, you can take other actions when using Dimension Door. For example, you could cast a spell with a ranged attack to initiate combat before leaving your original position.
Duration:
Dimension Door is a spell that causes instant distortion to any solid surface it’s applied to, allowing instantaneous passage of objects through that surface. Dimension Door has a Verbal component.
Teleport works:
The implication is that you can open and close doors, but it doesn’t say anything about windows. However, since Teleportation has “doors” under Disallow Foes, players would assume this also extends to windows, given the similarities between the two spells.
Concentration:
Dimension Door does not require concentration to maintain it after casting. It means you can cast it and then take other actions until your next turn.
Limitation:
Dimension Door requires Line of Sight for it to work; however, this doesn’t mean you must be able to see some feature(s) on the other side. For example, it could be a window with no visible obstruction, but they still cannot see inside because of darkness or something similar.
Dimension Door 5e vs Arcane Gate:
The spell Dimension Door creates a doorway that leads to a location visible to you. Arcane Gate requires the caster to see both starting and ending points. But does not require either to be visible from the other.

Does dimension door 5e require touch?
The spell Dimension Door 5e does not state that you must touch anything or anyone. It specifically states, “You teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space you can see”, since individual exceptions do not apply here.
Summary:
Dimension door is a spell that causes instant distortion to any solid surface to it’s applied. It allows the instantaneous passage of objects through that surface. The caster can step into this warped area, leading to an almost identical copy of the space. It is the place where the players enter and exit at will before the duration expires.
